This concentration, Schwaiger ended, "highlights the social restrictions impinging on [dancers'] social acknowledgment and cultural valorization, which are culturally naturalized and also hidden" (p. 1). The assumption of ballet and modern dance society as a young people's event is so pervasive that dance studies scholars have just recently initiated further conversation relating to the stereotypes of aging in professional dance. En masse of mature ladies dancers who continue to perform, we intend to critique the idealization of youthfulness as a type of ageism in specialist dance. We conclude that we acquired essential recognition of the gendered and ageist building and construction of dancing as an executing art.
